History
Twenty years have passed since a few members of the Italian community who enjoyed singing gathered at the CICC to discuss the feasibility of starting a choir for their enjoyment and that of the community. It’s beginning dates to 1997 when a few members of the Italian Club gathered to form an Italian Choir for the community; the original members including the musicians totaled 15. The initiative was embraced by many in the community and the choir enjoyed success with rapidly increasing membership.
The group was incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta in 2000. Fund raising through AGLC and special events has supported the choir through numerous performances in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, San Diego and Italy. Crescendo Choir Society is dedicated to the promotion of the rich musical legacy of our Italian Heritage; for our children and the community at large.
